A desalinator utilizes the reverse osmosis system in purifying seawater. Fifty years ago, this system was originally developed to make clean water for industrial use. It is considered the most rigid method of water purification in a large scale. But through the years, its usage has expanded to marine watermakers and home water purifiers. Reverse osmosis takes place when pressurized seawater passes through a semi-permeable membrane where up to 99 percent of salts, contaminants and pollutants are removed. The semi-permeable membrane allows only water to pass through but not ions or larger molecules such as bacteria, glucose or urea. So at the other end of the membrane, fresh, potable water is produced from either seawater, salty bore water or recycled water.

A reverse osmosis desalinator is normally operated for only part of the day from four to six hours depending on the amount of fresh water needed. To determine the gallon per hour rating, first find out where pure water will be used and the daily amount needed then divide the total gallon usage by the number of hours the watermaker will be used.

What I’m saying is rather than sitting in a safari truck listening to Oom Piet [safari guide] I’d like to get one of those campervans and then go on some expedition to find the mystique leopard. Apparently, as much as it’s one of the Big 5, they’re very anti-social and prefer hiding (wherever they hide). Well, I want to find one without Oom Piet and I’ll even get closer to have a better look so I can be sure it’s not a cheetah, or worse – some silly hyena.

Because nursing is the profession through which more patients will have one on one contact with than many other professions in health services, standards are even more important. While each country and each specialization of nursing carries with it its own unique sets of standards and expectations, nurse have a common ground where they meet, and whey their standards are understood across every field, and every country.

Standards within a professional practice are known as statements of an authoritative nature through which the profession to which they relate to provide a unique description of the responsibilities of all practitioners within that profession. Through this, quality assurance standards ensure that nurses are practicing with quality efforts which in itself promote their competence and practical applications. This will require continuous education on the part of the individual nurse, as quality assurance standards across many medical centers, cities, and countries are in a constant state of evolution. It is the responsibility of the nurse practitioner to understand their quality assurance expectations at all times.

Confidentiality is another element of most standards and expectations for nurses. This is a requirement that nurses do not have an option to practice or not. Legislation and privacy concerns are in effect all across the globe, and nurses have the expectation that they will maintain confidential and private information for their patients within the patient doctor realm. Patients use medical services under the understanding that their information and medical records are not being seen by the wrong person, or found in the wrong hands, and because nurses have the most contact between patient and doctor, these are standards of paramount significance to the nursing profession.

Here are 8 tips that I have put together over the years of remodeling and renovating homes.

- Familiarize yourself with the industry terms and lingo
The four most common terms you will hear when it comes to cabinets are rta (ready-to-assemble), stock, semi-custom, and custom cabinets. Each one has it's advantages and drawbacks, so it really comes down to your budget and what you are looking for. Ready-to-Assemble and Stock cabinets are the most economical, have the shortest lead times, and are starting to add more and more accessories to their lines. Custom cabinets are going to be the most expensive and have the longest lead times, but there is no limit to the sizes or custom details they can create.

- Create customized storage solutions to meet your needs
Regardless of which type of cabinets you decide to go with, you can still create customized storage solutions utilizing aftermarket kits and accessories. Options such as full extension roll-out shelves, spice racks, and pantry organizers help you maximize your storage space while giving you easy access to the everyday items. Large drawers in base cabinets can hold pots, pans, and dry goods; they are as popular as pull-out recycling bins. Built-in open-storage systems like wine racks and china displays look great even when empty.

- Choose the right style and finish for your kitchen
Light-colored woods, oak and maple make your kitchen seem brighter and larger which is ideal for small spaces or kitchens with very little light. Darker woods like cherry and mahogany create a more dramatic, furniturelike effect. Even with RTA cabinets or stock cabinets, you can still get the custom look by utilizing features such as turned leg pieces that mimic the look of furniture. - Don't be fooled by the finish
Homeowners have a tendency to get so caught up with the exterior look of the cabinets, that they forget to ask about the cabinet box. The cabinet box is what holds everything together, so you want this to be as strong as possible. Look for cabinets that feature at least 1/2" inch-thick walls and structural rails that can be attached with screws to the wall studs. There are a wide range of materials that are used to make cabinets, including medium-density fiberboard (MDF) and oriented strand board (OSB). While these materials will hold up to normal use, my personal choice is always going to be the cabinets that use plywood. It is less likely to be affected by moisture, sag, or pull apart. High-quality cabinets have dovetail joints in the drawer boxes, and you will also have the option to match the interior finish to that of the exterior.

- Be ready for the inevitable
Even with the highest quality cabinets, it is inevitable that something is eventually going to break, whether it is down the road or before installation. When it comes to ordering your cabinets, always ensure that you give yourself some extra time between delivery and installation in the event that something is damaged or needs to be replaced (how much time would depend on whether they are stock cabinets that could easily be replaced or custom cabinets that would have to be remanufactured). Don't forget to unpack all of your cabinets before installing them to ensure you have received units of the correct size. Strange things happen when cabinets are shipped, so at least you will know early on if there's a problem. Also make sure that the manufacturer or supplier can supply extra stain or replacement parts in the event something small needs to be fixed.

- Use the right screws
Drywall screws can snap under the heavy load of upper cabinets. Instead, attach cabinets to studs with 2 1/2"-inch deck screws fitted with cabinet washers. usually screw right through the support beams running horizontally across the top and bottom of the cabinets into the wall studs. Join cabinets together to make a single unit and ensure tight seams between the face frames.

- Don't try to install them without some help

By simply knowing the agents in your area can mean the difference between making money and losing money by getting the inside track on properties that are coming up for sale before they are listed.

Regardless of what anyone says, the best way to break into the real estate market is through rental properties. Buying a couple of rental properties means steady income, even in a down economy, and after a couple of years gives you equity to use towards other properties. That being said, not every rental property is the same. Again, do some research. An area such as the Manayunk section of Philadelphia is a great place to buy a rental property because it is predominately younger people that are just coming out of college, with a steady income. They don't have the capital built up to buy their own place yet, but yet they have a steady job and you are more likely to get paid. In addition to the rental income, multi-unit rental properties in a good area tend to appreciate even in a down market, because they have residual income coming in. Long term tenants means reliable revenue.

If you don't want the responsibility of managing rental properties, there are still plenty of opportunities out there to make money off the real estate market. The biggest of those opportunities being the foreclosure market. Unfortunately, in the current state of the market, there are a lot of home owners that simply can't afford their mortgage payment anymore due to balloon payments or adjustable arms. Rather than going to foreclosure and creating a credit nightmare, in most cases homeowners will let an investor step in and take over the mortgage. In this case, you have a guaranteed rentor and due to the equity that most likely been built up in the house, you can get a lower monthly payment than the current home owner.

If foreclosure properties are not what you are looking for, you can still get some deals to flip a house. The key to making money in a buyer market is cash. If you have the cash in hand, you can find a house in the most desirable neighborhoods that will need only cosmetic changes to improve the value of the house. This requires access to the money, connections in real estate, and the ability to budget a project and stick to it.
